Gay friendly neighborhood. Gay owners (us) live on site in the main house on the back of the property.
Terrific open layout. 13 foot ceilings, concrete floors. Modern kitchen and bath. Great outdoor space. Was formerly a potters studio. Exceptionally quiet, very thick walls. Designed by famed local architect Michael Benedikt.
Private parking space with Level 2 electric vehicle charger.
Blazing fast wifi (up to 1 gig service)
Clarksville is an eclectic central Austin neighborhood five minutes from downtown, UT, Zilker Park, Deep Eddy pool, Sixth Street, etc..
Great neighborhood restaurants, coffee, grocery a block away. West Lynn Street is a block away (has great Fresh Plus grocery, famous coffee house, restaurants, etc). Beautiful eclectic mix of houses. Very Old Austin.
Address is 1629 Waterston Avenue Austin TX 78703.
Austin is a boomtown so there may be construction in the area (generally limited mostly to reasonable weekday hours but there's not an absolute guarantee of that, and this guest house is unusually well sound insulated, probably because of it's former use as a pottery studio), chickens running loose (an Old Austin tradition), road closures for events, street races, etc. Gorgeous landscaping. The areas on three sides of the guest house are for guest house usage. The stone patio area with the outdoor fireplace is the owners front yard and is primarily for our use. Use of this area would be by invite only.

Both originally from Texas, Phil and I met in 1988. Been together ever since. Relocated a lot for work, but eventually found our way back to Texas. Austin specifically. In the early 90s we sold our Jeep CJ5 and used that money as a down payment on a house together. It came with a small rental apartment attached. We've been providing lodging ever since. We traveled a lot for work. We found that same sex couples were not always welcome, even in supposedly open-minded places. We found just to avoid hassle we sometimes found ourselves hiding our true selves. As a Navy spouse I actually had to pretend to be of the opposite gender in communications when Phil was overseas, back in the days of Don't Ask Don't Tell. I'd like to think we've come a long way since then. And in many ways we have. But still it's nice to stay where you aren't just tolerated - you're welcomed and affirmed.Location
